Saving Energy and Saving Resources
with Holy Cross Energy

For the winter heating season,  Holy Cross Energy wanted to spread the word that by taking small steps inside and outside of the home, consumers can save big energy.  WestGroup worked with Holy Cross to create a six-week campaign, “Hot Tips for the Heating Season”, reaching consumers via media in the three main markets Holy Cross serves – the Roaring Fork Valley (Aspen to Glenwood Springs), the Vail Valley and the Grand River Valley (Glenwood Springs toward Grand Junction). 

With lots of tips to share, WestGroup divided Holy Cross’ checklists of energy saving activities into bite-sized pieces, including interior and exterior activities for consumers to undertake. For this program, we created:

  • Three “Hot Tips” newspaper ads
  • An informational public relations campaign and media interviews with Holy Cross representatives
  • Five “Hot Tips” radio ads
  • Materials for use on the Holy Cross website and in statement stuffers

Starting in late fall, the campaign hits the “Oh my gosh, I wonder if the furnace needs cleaning, “ time period and continues into the start of winter.
